n 1992 just out of high school Amanda Bossard started her education in marine biology with Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage, Alaska. Bossard began her commercial seafood career in 1999 when she was hired on board the ship F/V Sunset. This 65' schooner that was converted into the role of a salmon tender is operated by Murat Aritan. The fisherman has been in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard is currently engaged to Aritan and the couple has come together to prove their claim to the market. They are both proponents of conserving renewable and sustainable marine resources. In 2007, she became a mother of two young children Bella age 3 as well as Andre 1 Bossard before returning to her home in Philadelphia established a direct market wholesale distributor of seafood known as Otolith. Her husband has a long history in the fish industry and often they are separated from each other for five months or longer. This is when they're focused on their environmental and financial targets. Bossard along with Isabella and Andre (ages 10 and 12 respectively) Return each year beginning in July of 2016, to Southeast Alaska for the summer harvest of wild salmon. Hooks and lines are employed to capture their salmon before joining Aritan to market their products to local processors for two months. After that, they grow their direct seafood sale through Otolith Sustainable Seafood.
